find your ‘home away from home’

University can be one of the most exciting, energising, and memorable times of your life, learning new skills, trying new things, making lifelong friends and preparing for the future. For some it can also be a daunting, lonely and challenging time as you move away from family and friends, explore your beliefs and identity and live independently - perhaps for the first time.

One of the privileges we have in Pontypridd is being close to the University of South Wales and welcoming new students into our church family every year. We hope that Temple can be a safe place of family, friendship, fellowship and encouragement for you while you study, and trust that God will do great things in your life during your time in Pontypridd.

explore your faith:

Perhaps you’ve attended church regularly since you were little - or maybe you’ve never been to church before but you’ve got questions - either way, you’re very welcome at Temple!

There’s plenty of opportunities to find out what being a Christian is about and grow in your faith, whether that’s through Hope Explored or the Bible Course, baptism classes, small group studies or teaching on a Sunday morning. Drop us an email or message to find out what’s on next.

support and hospitality:

We hope you’ll sense a warm welcome from the church family and should you choose to make Temple your regular church base, you’ll enjoy the support, friendship and fellowship offered by the church.

We would particularly encourage you to take advantage of the hospitality offered by church members. Plug in to a small group and join us on one of our church days out – it’s a great way to get to know people.

Plug in and serve:

We’ve been hugely blessed to share in fellowship with students from all over the UK and other countries over many years as they join with us in worship, share their gifts and enrich the life of the church. Some leave after graduating, others stick around and some (including our pastor, Pete!) return to us after many years! No matter how long you’re with us, we’d love you to be part of our family and get stuck in.

Whatever your gifts are – perhaps in music, drama, DIY, outreach, children’s work, serving tea and coffee – we’d love you to use them alongside us as we serve our church and community. It’s a real encouragement in the life of the church to have students involved in all our church life.

usw: treforest christian union

We’d really encourage you to join the Christian Union while at university. It’s a fantastic way to meet other Christians from all different churches and walks of life and share in fellowship together. University is a fantastic time to share your faith, so get involved and help give every student the chance to hear and respond to the gospel for themselves.

Temple has close links with the CU and support them in whatever way we can. You can find them on Instagram and Facebook - why not drop them a message and introduce yourself?
