We are looking to appoint an inspiring and enthusiastic person, who feels a strong calling to work with Children and Young people. Such a calling will be borne out of a great love for the Lord, a deep knowledge of His word, and a prayerful passion to see lives changed, families strengthened in faith, and children grow to love Jesus.
We are very open to discussing and exploring your vision for a role such as this, and seeing how it might develop and grow over the next 2 years and beyond.

Job Description:

The Children’s & Youth Worker will be focussed on mission and ministry among children and youth. The core purpose of the role is to help the church to:
nurture and disciple children and youth within our church
engage with children and their families in the community, especially those with whom the church has contact
leading & vision
With the leadership team, articulate a vision & strategy for our Children & Youth ministries.
Working with ministry volunteers, lead the implementation of that vision to further develop a joined-up approach to witness and discipleship.
worship
Work with the Pastor in helping shape how we enable children and families to be part of our worshipping community.
outreach
Work with our volunteers and the Pastor to spiritually engage and pastorally support children and families in our wider community
Working with volunteers, contribute to the planning and implementation of family and community events with the aim of leading people on their faith journey (these might include events such as Holiday clubs, messy church, community fun days, etc.)
discipleship / pastoring
Build relationships with children and youth, engage with them, and help them grow in their faith and spirituality.
Coordinate, develop & champion our children and youth groups, communicating with parents, and recruiting and training a team of volunteers.
personal faith / legal
There is a Genuine Occupational Requirement that the postholder will be a committed Christian because of the Christian discipleship and evangelism responsibilities of the role.
The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the UK and will be subject to a probation period of 3 months
contract / duration
Currently we have funding available for 2 years, full-time post.
We would also be open to discussions around job sharing and part-time work

i. Experience
Previous experience of working with children and families in a church context. Essential
Previous experience of leading worship with children and families. Desirable
Previous experience of working within a community context. Desirable
Experience of managing, supporting and developing volunteers. Desirable
Experience of working in collaboration with schools. Desirable
Understanding of the importance of safeguarding and familiarity with current safeguarding policies and practices. Essential

A passion for God with good knowledge of the Christian faith to such a degree that you are confident planning worship and teaching for children, have good Bible knowledge and ability to learn and draw on a wide range of resources. Essential

Have satisfactory DBS enhanced disclosures and references Essential
